South London & Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM) has confirmed Interserve Projects Services Ltd as the PSCP (Principal Supply Chain Partner), with Healthcare Environments Limited as the primary supply chain member (PSCM) leader, for health facility planning to develop the Forensic Secure Mental Health services for Southwark at the Bethlem Royal Hospital and Lambeth Forensic Services at Lambeth Hospital.
The new provision at Bethlem Royal Hospital is for medium and low secure units consisting of 89 beds for male patients and including a 15 bed Forensic Intensive Psychological Treatments (FIPTS) ward.
The primary objective of this scheme is to create sufficient capacity to allow the demand for secure services to be met locally and minimise the reliance on placements out of area for people resident within the SLaM area. In addition to the in patient areas and associated facilities there will also be a Therapy and Education Centre.
At Lambeth Hospital the new provision will be a 24 bed in patient Medium Secure Unit which will increase the provision of MSU beds and provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to male patients from the London Borough of Lambeth.
